Ferry service links Valletta to Grand Harbour
The ferry service from Marsamxett harbour has been extended to the Grand Harbour linking the Three Cities to Valletta, Transport Malta said.
The new service, which started today, coincides with the commissioning of the new lift at Barrakka. Ferry users shall be entitled to the free use of the lift on the same day, starting from Sunday.
The Grand Harbour ferry service, operated by Marsamxetto Steamferry Services Limited, is a result of the contract signed between Transport Malta and the operator for the “provision of Scheduled Maritime Ferry Services for the Grand Harbour and the Port of Marsamxett”.
The schedule is as follows:
Winter:
Mondays to Saturdays: 7am to 6pm
Sundays and public holidays: 10am to 4pm

Is there any chance of a link to where a person can catch the ferry?

Problema li nara ghan nies li jridhu jidhlu l Belt bil ferry mil birgu hu il parking. Ma hemmx fejn tipparkja ix-xatt tal-birgu jew relattivament vicin. Bejn tiffranka l ispejjes tal parking jew ma ssibx u z zmien b' tal linja wiehed jikkunsidrha.
Pero nahseb li tista tkun attraenti ghan nies tal vicin u zgur ser tghin il buiseness il Birgu billi jgibhu turisti hemm. Missa ilha li saret.

Prosit ta' l-introduzzjoni tas-servizz gdid imma wisq nahseb li mhu ser ikun popolari xejn ghax in-noll hu ghali wisq. F'dan il-kaz veru b' tal-linja ser ikun jaqbillek. Aktar minn €2 ghall-vjagg both ways hu kollu zejjed. Ma' ninsewx li minbarra dan hemm ukoll in-noll tal-lift ghall-gol-Belt! Zgur li ftit ser juzawh halli jmorru x-xoghol bih.

1. jekk qrajt l-artiklu hemm miktub li noll tal-lift huwa b'xejn ghall min juza il-ferry.
2. Vera il-prezz huwa ghola min tal-linja, imma tiffranka balla hin.
3. Min juzah kuljum ghandu prezz ta 10Euro fil-gimgha - li tigik irhas milli tuza il-karozza biex tmur mill-Birgu ghall-Belt u lura kuljum ghal-gimgha shiha

Nice for tourists, I suppose. However, a Maltese commuter between Valletta to the various areas served by the ferry is better off using the bus service, with a day ticket of 1.50 Euro, as opposed to a return ferry ticket of 2.80 (almost double the price).

But it might be quicker?

Glad to see there isn't a higher price for tourists

No, it's the same high price for the locals who would otherwise use it everyday.

What's the frequency of the ferry service? How much is the ticket to go up or down on the lift?

May I humbly suggest that 6pm is too early and will not service most office workers .. could this be extended to 8.00pm perhaps.?

ehe! ... who put this together? Us normal mortals especially those in the private sector tend to linger at the office ... just for fun you know ... not really working :)
