The fleet taking part in the double-handed Raymarine Round Malta and Gozo race, held recently, set off to a slow start from Marsamxett Harbour.

The figure-of-eight race is one of the longest and toughest events in the Royal Malta Yacht Club (RMYC) calendar and follows an 80-nautical mile course.

The race officer on the day was Mark Napier.

He sent the yachts on a south-bound course towards Marsaxlokk and Filfla before proceeding towards Gozo.

The predicted southwesterly wind soon filled in, reaching 20 knots at times and giving sailors a hard time on the more exposed parts of the course.

The Line Honours were claimed by Xp-Act and the same boat was declared overall winner on corrected time.
Club Commodore Godwin Zammit thanked Raymarine for their continued support of this popular race which is now in its 19th year.
