Helga Pizzuto has been re-elected president of the Malta Federation of Professional Associations.
Ms Pizzuto, an engineer, told the MFPA’s 42nd annual general meeting that the organisation would continue to foster relations with authorities, through representation in public forums, including the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development and meetings at the highest political levels.
She explained how the federation aimed to strengthen its public profile for the benefit of all the professions represented by the federation. The MFPA plans to increase its presence through various new communication platforms, including a new website and by holding public and inter-professional seminars.
Over the past year, the federation contributed to the Professional Qualifications Directive and held a seminar in collaboration with the European Council of the Liberal Professions.
This year’s vice-presidents are Ben Rizzo of the Malta Institute of Accountants and Maryanne Ciappara of the Malta Chamber of Pharmacists. Gertrude Buttigieg of the Association of Speech-Language Pathologists is honorary secretary; Paula Vassallo of the Dental Association of Malta is honorary treasurer.
