Update 3: Qalet Marku murder - victim was awaiting trial
A murder investigation has been launched after a man was found dead at Qalet Marku, Bahar ic-Caghaq, with a shot in the head.
He was Josef Grech, known as Il-Yo Yo, who was awaiting trial for association in the attempted murder of Patricia Attard, who allegedly was to have been thrown from the cliffs at L-Ahrax in Mellieha. She was later found shot dead.
Another man was convicted of association in the shooting of the woman.
Informed sources said that Grech, 41 of Balzan, was found in a pool of blood, indicating that he was shot on site. However, investigators fear he was also beaten up somewhere else before being taken there.
He had severe injuries to his head, face and other parts of his body.
The partly-naked corpse was found just before 4am by a hunter, not far from the site where lawyer Margaret Mifsud was found dead in her car some months ago.
Senior police officers from the Homicide Squad were on the scene.
An inquiry is being held by Magistrate Miriam Hayman.

Why was a suspected murderer running around free in the first place, mr Justice?? Errr Sorry about that..Correction.. why where two people accused of murder running around free ??? Innocent before proved guilty should only apply to someone who might have stolen an apple not killed someone!!!!

Seem imprudent to say the least that any person the police consider to have been involved in murder, are on the loose. The general public,to say nothing of the accused are put at jeopardy.

Even if found guilty of the alleged charge-probably in 10 years time- he would have have likely got a mere slap on the wrist as he would have been subject to provocation or some other mitigating nonsense. This is justice of sorts and whilst we cant condone it the perceived injustice done to an individual is sometimes of service to the public ,as we all want justice -but who wants to pay for it?

from what i see on TV abroad, the first thing they do when there is a murder or something like that, is put the tape round the area and then erect some sort of a tent for shelter to those investigating.

We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created the. This mickey mouse country of ours needs a complete and total overhaul from its very roots...

The erection of a "tent" is primarily to protect and preserve any forensic evidence at the cordoned off and secured crime locus. Another thing that tends not to happen in civilised countries in the interests of common decency, is to allow onlookers and media to mill around the perimeter of the locus nosing and photographing the victim. There does seem to be a need for a tightening up of procedures

Well well well ... looks like we have someone who is doing 'justice'. Both men killed were in court for murders. Guess they would have been safer in prison - both for them and for society.

Why are policeman not using gloves to open the car while investigating? This may temper with any fingerprints...+ shouldn't the area be closed off for POLICE until the forensic unit is on site?

Sorry but how could you actually see if the police had gloves on or not? the area is closed off or the press would have been in the car Mr. Sansone :)

Graham, the car is outside police lines which to me says that it has nothing to do with the victim. Probably it belongs to the police used to shelter the constables from the inclement weather. As for gloves, how can you say they aren't wearing any?

The car was not there in the first part of the footage. I do not suppose that the victim could have driven it there after he died. RIP whoever you are.
