Labour MP Helena Dalli has filed a libel suit against the Nationalist Party for the “lies in the leaflet GonziPN sent to civil servants”.

The PN sent some 20,000 leaflets to workers’ houses warning them of potential transfers if Labour is elected. It, however, denies targeting civil servants.

Ms Dalli said that in its leaflet, the Nationalist Party lied and maliciously misinterpreted what she said at a press conference.

Ms Dalli said she has also requested the principal permanent secretary to state whether it was acceptable for a political party to use workers’ data for partisan aims and if this was in breach of data protection legislation.

The principal permanent secretary referred the case to the Data Protection Commissioner for investigation, she said.
