Minister Austin Gatt said "Franco is history".

Jesmond Mugliett said the outcome was inevitable.

Labour carcades are seen in Birkirkara, Paola and near the PL headquarters.

Alternattiva Demokratika said a general election would reduce uncertainty.

Independent MP Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando told PBS he hoped a general election would be called as soon as possible.

Labour MP Luciano Busuttil said the GonziPN era had ended here.

Dr Debono left Valletta escorted by a police CID car.

Dr Gonzi, with a smile on his face, was greeted with applause by a crowd at the edge of St George's Square. He greeted the crowd and shook hands with some of the people.
