Net de Ginai and Nevaio des Bordes won yesterday’s main races, both reserved for class Premier trotters on a short distance of 2140m.

In the first class Premier race, French Net de Ginai (Rodney Gatt) increased its pace with 500m to go and secured its first win in Malta.

Veikko Hornline (Carl Caruana) was second ahead of Argus Hanover (Charles Camilleri) and Sultan November (Frank Portelli). The winner clocked an average time of 1.19.8” per kilometre.

Twelve other horses lined up in the second class Premier race.

It was Carnegie Hall (Darren Mizzi) which was the fastest trotter at first, opening a half length lead from Versace Boko (Warren Spiteri) and Super Qui (Tony Demanuele).

But with 400m to go, Carnegie Hall started to slow down and was overtaken by Nevaio des Bordes (Claudio Refalo) which obtained its fourth win of the year. True Q (Shaun Portelli) was second while Utah Hornline (Raymond Clifton) and Belafonte (Cliferty Calleja) were third and fourth respect-ively.

Nevaio des Bordes had an average time of 1.17.4” per kilometre.

Yesterday’s card also included three races for class Silver trotters.

In the first race, Ocean Brillouard (Noel Baldacchino) surged ahead in the last 600m to clinch its second win of the season ahead of Quartz du Lupin (Jeffrey Said). Nerlo Villetot (Redent Magro) and Prince du Moutier (Raymond Schembri) followed in that order.

Charm Hammering (Gilbert Farrugia) took its second win in Malta when competing in the Silver class race.

This Swedish seven-year-old pulled clear in the final metres and finished ahead of Nasdaq du Closet (Eugenio Zerafa) and Cross Country FC (Marco Debono).

Swedish newcomer Command Coger (Carmelo Farrugia) ended fourth.

In the third class Silver race, Lucas Ness (Mario Farrugia) led all the way and took its second win of the year after finishing three lengths clear of Bankir Zon (Clint Vassallo) and Match de Bannes (Noel Baldacchino).

The fifth race, open for class Bronze trotters was characterized by an accident which involved four participants.

Luckily enough no driver was injured in this accident.

The race was won by Koko Loco driven by Jesmar Gafà. This young driver finished the best of the meeting with two wins.

Another racing programme is scheduled for next Thursday at the Marsa racetrack.

The card will include the President’s Cup final for class Premier trotters and the programme will start at 1.30pm.
