San Ġiljan ASC head coach Karl Izzo has just returned from a two-day seminar – Convegno Allenatori di Pallanuoto – organised by the Italian federation’s technical sector in Ostia, outside Rome.

The themes discussed during the workshops included physical and physiological criteria, technical preparation, training for youths, scientific research and performance analysis.

Added value to this seminar was provided by the presence of illustrious names in the sport, the likes of Sandro Campagna, Italy national team coach, Giovanni Melchiorri, national team doctor, Bruna Rossi, federation psychologist, and Alessandro Amato, physical trainer.

Various innovations to the sport and techniques were also on the agenda and the build-up of the Italian team to the 2012 Olympic Games was thoroughly analysed. Italy were the silver medal winners in the men’s tournament in London.

During his stay in Italy, Izzo was also invited by Campagna to attend a two-day training camp by the national team.
