MOC scandal: “Resignations are in order” - AD
AD has called for the resignations of Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco and Joseph Cassar from their Malta Olympic Committee posts.
In a statement, it said it noted the contents of the investigation by the Ethics Committee of the International Olympic Committee wherein it was concluded that Mr Justice Farrugia Sacco and Joseph Cassar, president and secretary general of the MOC, were prepared to violate the rules of the Olympic Movement.
AD deputy chairman Carmel Cacopardo said: “It has also been noted that the Malta Olympic Committee as well as Messrs Farrugia Sacco and Cassar have been invited by the IOC Ethics Committee to appropriate action in the absence of such actions, the executive committee of IOC will consider itself the appropriate measures applicable.
“In view of the above AD considers that Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco and Mr Joe Cassar should resign forthwith from their MOC posts.”
Mr Cacopardo said AD regretted that the Commission for the Administration of Justice did not conclude an investigation requested by Justice Minister Chris Said on June 19.
He called on the Commission to pull up its socks and conclude its investigation at the earliest.

"The International Olympic Committee’s Ethics Commission rapped Mr Justice Farrugia Sacco last Thursday" so this is not a local political issue.
Judge Farrugia Sacco is not only MOC President but a Maltese Judge................also a representative of the Maltese Judicary!

Ethically, people resign before the investigation is concluded!
To whoever is commenting that Farrugia Sacco should not resign because he has not yet been found guilty are not considering the fact that he may use his power to influence his investigations! He should resign and save face, it is the right thing to do. Even if he is found to be innocent, ethics dictate he should resign!

I believe that the Commission for the Administration of Justice, headed by His Excellency the President of Malta Dr. G. Abela should investigate this issue. Failing that the Commission should explain why it will not be doing that.

Carmel are you joking.? Do expect the Comm for the Administration of Justice to take any action.? Do you really know the persons involved?

Resignations in Malta are hard to come by.It takes a real man to do that and as we know there isn't too many of them here.So the right and only thing to do, if found guilty Fire them on the spot.No ifs or buts and stop the politicking.Do the right thing after all they are shaming Malta and the Maltese people and we need to clear our names because Most Maltese are decent people.

If I was a judge, I would resign myself if Justice Farrugia Sacco does not resign himself.
This is definitely the occasion when the judiciary should stand up to be counted.
