Valletta, Floriana join forces to organise NYE celebrations
The Valletta and Floriana councils have joined forces to organise this year's outdoor New Year’s Eve celebrations.
The events will be held throughout most of Valletta and Floriana.
St George's Square will host the main stage and will see the very best of Malta’s top local talent.
The night in the square will start with William Mangion performing piano bar classics, followed by Kurt Calleja’s New Year Eve Edition of Cabaret and More featuring Warren Bonello and Brooke.
Pierre Cordina will take over and play some of the best hits of 2012 before the 3D countdown show. Then it’s up to Gianni and Filletti to welcome the New Year with their performance.
A kids' area will also be set up in the new De Valette Square. In the new open air theatre, Zoo will team up with Centrestage to produce an end of year show.
An audio visual countdown will include stage pyrotechnics and fireworks.
For the first time, the countdown will include an Architectural Projection Mapping NYE 3D countdown show. The technique involves the use of high powered projectors to project audio visual animations on buildings in St George's Square.
The countdown will kick start the celebrations leading to V18 Valletta European Capital of Culture.
In Floriana, Mikaela, Yorika, Raquela, Luisana Bartolo, Paul Borg Bonaci and other top talents will take everyone for a musical journey from the 1960s to today. They will be accompanied by a live band and DJ Toby.
Valletta events are being organised by the Valletta council in collaboration with G7 Events, while those in Floriana by the Floriana council in collaboration with Justin Attard Promotions.
The comedy show 'Bla Kondixin' will also be featured.

Celebrations in Floriana were a real mess!!! We decided that this year we would celebrate in Floriana and not Valletta as we usually do....no countdown!!! instead there were the 'Bla Kondixin' team blabbing away. Mind you I usually like watching their shows but really whoever thought that they could replace midnight countdown was not thinking at all!!!!

Seems that Valletta took the best :), that's why Floriana where happy to collaborate this year.
We should use Floriana as a parking and celebrate in Valletta like most other countries around the world. The capital should always be the place that hold this type of celebrations :).
Floriana is good for MTV events and mass meetings :)

Of course, people in other countries all go to the capital city to celebrate NYE. Have you ever been to another country?

@ Mr Saviour Sam Agius of course i've been abroad but pls be realistic, we do live in Malta that in 30min you can be anywhere around the island. If it was Mellieha and Valletta might make a difference of location but Floriana and Valletta is 1 min from each other. We should do something to have a national event and not something to compete with each other, we leave competition for football.
