Severance benefits for CEOs
Transport Minister Austin Gatt gave details in Parliament today on terminal benefits paid to the CEOs of the Malta Maritime Authority and the Malta Transport Authority upon their resignations.
The minister said they received €52,526 and €24,257 respectively. He said that there had been no political or ministerial pressure for the resignations.
The chairmen of the two authorities had received no compensation when they stepped down. Neither had the outgoing chairman of Mita.
Dr Gatt was replying to a question by Opposition MP Joe Mizzi.

These are public funds and should be returned! What's important is that during debates we state that public funds are spent with care and responsibility

They really know how to take care of their own.
Of course no pressure was made their departure was a welcome gesture and a thank you from the minister for not raking up the mud in those authorities.

Almost Eur77,000. Nice!!!
About Ten years worth of a minimum wage. With that sum would they need any pressure to resign?
