Passengers to use part of Cirkewwa terminal from today
An impression of how the terminal will look on completion.
Foot passengers will be using part of the new Cirkewwa Terminal building as from today so that work can start on the last phase of the works on the project, Transport Malta said today.
The remaining works include minor internal and external works, road works at the exit from the north quay berths, completion of berth no. 3 and the installation of the link spans.
The terminal building is expected to be completed and inaugurated within a few weeks.

Couldn't choose a better day to start using it. The ferry had to stop operating today due to the strong winds :)

How many years overdue ? A number of Maltese leave their cars at Cirkewwa to cross and travel in Gozo by bus. Gozitans doing the same have a roofed car park. Where is the one in Cirkewwa ?

Hi Mr. Ellul, you're welcome because we have had enough of using a 'terminal' not even suited to a poor African country.....

@ Spiteri - You obviously have no idea what a ferry in a poor African country looks like...........

This morning, as soon as I drove off the ferry onto the quay my poor car was covered in sea spray thanks to the very rough seas and accompanying wind. It is deplorable that nobody whether the Minister, contractor(s), architects or civil engineers took this known problem into consideration when planning the new terminal. As usual the car owners will suffer untold damage from this continuous spray.

An impression of how it will look like?
Why not an image of how it really looks like - must still look like its under construction!

A rescheduling of the ferry timetable leaving Malta is now imperative. Most Gozitans have compromised their timetables to arrive at the ferry terminal just in time to board. It is enough to see what a large percentage of passengers turn up for the ferry (in m'buses or organised transport) in the last 5 minutes. I guess they will also lose the ferry now since the boarding gates close earlier… :(

how about rescheduling the time they get picked up so the minibus drivers do not have to drive like lunatics trying to get to the ferry on time!

Oh, that would be great should we all be able to work flexi-hours, but working hours are working hours, Sir, especially in the case for teachers.

Still you're not going to win my vote GonziPN. Should you have taken 15 years to complete few metres of concrete structures? GonziPN = delays and for such delays it's YOU who has to pay.

You waited 15 years and finally got something.
In 18 years of Socialist rule you never got any projects which can rival this government's accomplishments in the last few years. You had rusty water when and if the govt turned the supply on, intermittent electricity, a second hand telephone system...
You didn't pay much then, because you didn't earn much neither. Vote LP & go back to the 70s.
