Nadur Youngsters completed a Gozitan double at the Sirens Stadium after they eased past Żejtun Corinthians to join Sannat in the last 16 of the KO competition.

The Youngsters deserved their win as they produced a fine display with Kalin Ganchev coming back to punish his former side.

Nadur surged ahead in their first real attempt at goal on 17 minutes. Ganchev picked out the unmarked Milos Stojanovic and the Nadur striker fired home with a low drive.

Ganchev then produced a volley which flew wide on 22 minutes.

Żejtun were unlucky not to draw level on the half-hour when Adrian Carabott was fed in the area by Hamza Chaib with the 21-year-old striker hitting the post.

The Gozitans made it 2-0 a minute later. From a long clearance, the Żejtun defence stopped for offside but the flag stayed down and Claudio Antunes sprinted forward to beat Ranier Farrugia.

Gotthard Conti’s side could have made it 3-0 on 36 minutes when Ganchev beat the offside trap but was denied by the Żejtun goalkeeper.

Nadur did add a third goal on 56 minutes when Ganchev controlled the ball just outside the area and let fly a powerful volley that gave Farruigia no chance.

Żejtun pulled one back on 63 minutes when Matthew Borg tapped the ball home from an Edward Azzopardi corner.

Here, Żejtun lost striker Chaib for several minutes after he appeared to have been hit in the face during a goalmouth skirmish.

In the dying minutes, a long-range shot from Żejtun substitute Kenneth Abela was blocked by Mark Grima.
