The country’s bishops yesterday urged the local Church to welcome Christ with a renewed enthusiasm.
In a pastoral letter for Advent, Archbishop Paul Cremona and Gozo Bishop Mario Grech said: “Through the intercession of Mary, Mother of the Word, we pray to the Holy Spirit to sustain us that we may not be afraid to embrace the challenge of the new evangelisation, which has the power of restoring sound to the deaf and speech to the dumb.”
The bishops said that in comparison with the mission of evangelisation, every other mission of the Church had little or no meaning.
