A Christmas Village was put up at St George’s Square, Victoria, by the council between November 23 and 25.

Traditional produce, cakes, Christmas baubles and decorations and crafts were exhibited in specially-built huts like those found in Christmas markets abroad.

People were served with mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and tin taċ-ċappa (figs), while Christmas carols were sang by various choirs.

Another attraction was Father Christmas, who entertained children and took photos with them.

Victoria mayor Samuel Azzopardi, the man behind the event, said that since its introduction three years ago, the popularity of the Christmas village was increasing every year. It was a great opportunity for Gozitans to boost their businesses and for artisans to showcase their works.
