The Home Economics laboratory at St Ignatius College Girls’ Secondary School, Qormi, was recently transformed into a pizzeria when Claudio Caprio, owner of Pizz...è Pizzeria in Mosta, was invited to school to demonstrate and show students how to make pizza.

The aim of this hands-on activity was to enhance the teaching of Italian by putting into practice topics they had learned in previous weeks while at the same time learning how to cook pizza.

The students were able to bring to school different toppings to make their own creative pizza and worked in small teams while communicating with Caprio, a native Italian speaker.

The climax of this activity was when the students tasted their self-made pizza.
