A young man was jailed for four years yesterday after admitting to stealing more than €100,000 worth of gold jewellery in one of 28 thefts he committed in three months.

Matthew Camilleri, 26, who is in custody pending another theft case, admitted before Magistrate Doreen Clarke to stealing from houses and hotel rooms across the island between August and October.

Police Inspector Chris Pullicino prosecuted.

Lawyer Gianluca Caruana Curran was defence counsel.
