Work on the 53-metre lift connecting Lascaris ditch to the Upper Barrakka Gardens is in its final stages, and the structure is expected to be inaugurated next month. The lift is built on the same site as the one that had operated between 1905 and 1973. It will be able to carry up to 800 people per hour, each of its two cabins taking up to 21 passengers at one go.
