The Planning and Priorities Coordination Department has announced the launch of a call for project proposals to be part-financed by the European Union under the European Social Fund 2007-2013.

This call falls under Priority Axes 1 and 4 of the Operational Programme II entitled ‘Empowering people for more jobs and a better quality of life’ which aims to strengthen social and economic development by improving job opportunities.

It supports initiatives which aim to increase employment, quality and productivity at work, to promote social inclusion and to encourage disadvantaged people to join the work force.

Priority Axis 1 aims at supporting Malta’s quest to become a knowledge-based, competitive economy pursuant to investment in human capital and the increase in the overall participation rates in all levels of education. The managing authority encourages projects which address higher education training programmes and training in capacity building and priority will be given to projects which address educational quality, relevance, structures, systems, campaigns and research.

The indicative financial threshold is of €5 million.

Priority Axis 4 specifically aims to strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of public administration through actions which target institutional and administrative capacity, including the social partners and civil society.

This should, in turn, contribute towards the development of effective partnerships in a wide range of policy areas. The managing authority encourages projects to promote a more effective social and civil dialogue in Malta.

The indicative financial threshold is of €4.5 million.

This call is also open to councils and NGOs. Applicants must have been established for at least one year before the launch date of this call, which ends on December 14.
