Bank of Valletta yesterday named Joseph Camilleri chief officer for human resources and Anthony Scicluna chief officer for group internal audit.

The appointments are subject to regulatory approval.

Currently executive head responsible for human resources and secretary to the executive committee, Mr Camilleri joined the bank in 1987 and has held several key executive positions, including head of IT systems and executive head of wealth management. He holds a BS. in Management and IT, and an MBA both from the University of Malta.

Accountant and auditor Anthony Scicluna joined the bank in February 1984. The executive head responsible for group internal audit and chairman of the bank’s new product approval committee, Mr Scicluna holds a BA in Business Management.

“These appointments come as a result of the bank’s continuous growth,” chief executive Charles Borg said. “The bank’s human resources are its most important asset. The time has come to strengthen the human resources function further.

“Internal audit has become a key function not only within the enterprise risk management framework of the Bank of Valletta Group but also within the whole of the continuous developing financial services sector.

“Risk and compliance functions have long been recognised as part of the bank’s governance structure and putting internal audit on the same level will ensure that the bank will have a most robust structure in place.”
