What do you think about the Budget?
What does the man on the street think about the budget?
Timesofmalta.com asked around and found out that while majority said they had not followed the proceedings, those who did were mostly in favour.
Pensioners said that the €4 cost of living wage adjustment was not enough to cover their needs but parents were happy with the increase in the children's allowance and the tax reduction. Others commented that this was a futile exercise as the Budget was not going to go through parliament.

Fuq Il pensjoni tas-serviv, ma gara xejn hlief hadna l-loqom. L -ex leader tal PN kien qal lil Alf. Issa ghaddew 14 il sena bi gvernijiet nazzjoalisti ghadhom ikarkru saqalhom, bil 200ewro ma nafx meta se niqfu nigu misruqa. din sena tal budget u hadna loqom, ahseb u ara wara.

For us who get our income from pension only, there is a ceiling ain't it? So how did i hear a spokesman say that the Government will be incurring so much sum to make up for the difference caused by revision of collective agreements. And what is the official mechanism to know what is the actual pay being paid today for positions we used to occupy. What legal access do we have to know this?

The fact the cigarettes have gone up is to be expected. They are hardly the source of life and vitality. I m a smoker too, and I'm not too bothered about it.
From what I heard in these interviews, people don't seem to understand that fuel prices are not regulated by a government but by oil companies.

ECG, What I would like to know is how places such as eastern European countries, poorest in the EU, afford to heat their houses for about 6 months and still afford to pay the bill. Fuel might not be regulated by the government but the tax on the fuel sure is.

Much depends on the political faction one may happen to belong to.
In favour or against, every budget has its pros and cons, its ups and downs...
The question is whether it will be implemented to the full or not and if there is a hidden agenda meant to mislead the ordinary mortal!
Let's not pass judgement now, it might prove to be too early and presumptuous!

The reply of the last person left me in awe! I am shocked at the mentality of a young woman, a student most of all, who should be of a very open mind, to reason this way - this makes me realise how very little hope there is for my country. In Malta, students get a good sum in their smart cards at the begenning of EVERY year, and a monthly stipend - which most complain is not enough for books because they spend it on mobile top-up cards.
Abroad, students take loans to cover tuition expenses and after graduating they still have a lump sum of their loan to pay back whilst struggling to find a job.
