In a Tweet (so apt) just after the Budget speech, Joseph Muscat said that if the PM wasn't phased about awarding himself €500 a week, he wasn't going to be phased about bringing down energy tariffs.

No mention as to how, of course, but then he only had 140 characters.Muscat also said that Malta was in a situation where the government had announced Budget measures whose introduction could only be guaranteed by Labour.

Hubris, anyone? This man clearly thinks it's all over bar the shouting, because he and no-one else is going to give effect to the Budget.

He didn't only say it once, either, because he went on to crow that he did not know if the Budget would be approved by Parliament, and thus it was only Labour which could guarantee that the good points of the Budget would be retained.

He just knows he's going to be PM and he can't stop himself smirking about it. Moggies getting the cream have nothing on him, with that Cheshire Cat grin and subliminal purr, like Garfield having his tummy tickled.

He's got the GWU to rely on to provide a fillip for his ambition, too, with their erudite critique of the Budget, panning it because the Government failed to bring down energy tariffs, only serendipitously and coincidentally the same battle-cry as that used by Muscat.
