The Breast Care Support Group has set up a new group aimed at offering support to young women with breast cancer.

The group will be led by 32-year-old Rowena Enriquez, who was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago.

The mother of two feels that this group will help address the needs that are unique to younger women, such as dealing with young children and coping financially.

Younger women generally do not consider themselves to be at risk for breast cancer. Some five per cent of all breast cancer cases occur in women under 40 years.

The new group, which falls under the umbrella of Europa Donna Malta, will be holding its first meeting tomorrow at the National Council of Women’s headquarters in Blata l-Bajda.

Anyone may attend and share experiences.

The group can be contacted on info@europadonnamalta.org.mt or 9999 4666.
