A court yesterday awarded €87,000 to a man who suffered physical and psychological trauma following a traffic accident in 2006.

In the accident, a Bedford truck driven by Raymond Fava emerged from a side street and collided with George Spiteri’s car.

Mr Fava admitted liability for the accident and the court’s job was to determine the compensation due to Mr Spiteri.

The court-appointed medical experts found that he suffered a 50 per cent permanent disability consisting of urological and psychiatric problems.

In quantifying the amount, Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco took into consideration Mr Spiteri’s annual income and applied a multiplier of 16 years.
