Former Mayor loses two libel cases
Former Mosta Mayor Paul Chetcuti Caruana has been ordered by Magistrate Francesco Depasquale to pay a total of €2,000 in damages to Nazarenno Vassallo after finding him guilty of libel.
Mr Vassallo, himself a former mayor, filed two libel cases against Dr Chetcuti Caruana over an article headed The Untouchables in the council's magazine Il-Kunsill Tieghek and Ir-remettar ta Zaren Vassallo in l-orizzont.
Ivan Bartolo, editor of the council magazine, was fined €100.

The same man lost such a case against me and I am still waiting for my money 3 years later.He also lost a case I initiated against him with the Ombudsman -who found in my favour -yet the recommendations the Ombudsman made ,which included providing me with an unreserved apology,have yet to be forthcoming and have been summarily ignored by him.

@Peter Murray: Now this is something which I find hard to stomach. What is the use of court sentences if they are not observed? Why should not the court itself see to its sentences' enforcement?
