Malta and Kosovo have signed an agreement on the readmission of people residing in their countries without authorisation.

The agreement is the first concluded between Malta and Kosovo and was signed on Wednesday by the Ambassador of Malta to Kosovo Colin Scicluna, resident in Vienna, and Ambassador of Kosovo to Austria Sabri Kiqmari.

The Government said the agreement was another step in strengthening Malta’s international legal framework and furthered the Government’s commitment in addressing the challenges of illegal immigration.

After the ceremony, the two ambassadors discussed bilateral relations, including Kosovo’s interest in emulating Malta’s economic and adminis-trative model.

They also discussed the situation in the Western Balkans, especially the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue which is being held under the aegis of the EU.
