It was with good reason that the Paceville venue popularly known as V-Gen was given the name Voice of a Generation. Ever since it opened its doors in May 2011, it has consistently offered regular live events, among them some significant festivals, all in all covering the larger part of the local music scene as well as welcoming a large number of top foreign alternative and metal upon its stage.

And while there is no shortage of live events on V-Gen’s calendar, there is one particular event coming up that is of particular interest, namely in that it will revive the spirit of the notorious Broadband Gathering festival.

Originally conceived by Reciprocal Records, the festival, now with the Alternative Obsessions promotions team also on board, is the inspiration behind the Generator Festival, a two-day event that will take place this Friday and Saturday.

In the spirit of Broadband Gathering, the Generator Festival aims to mix, blend and fuse various styles of music from the local music scene – a mixture that will see classic and progressive rock, ska, punk and hip hop rub shoulders with various metal genres.

The confirmed line-up includes Rage Against Society, 12th Ode, Clubmurder, Chapter Zero, BNI, Norm Rejection, Dripht, Colourblind, Ascendor, Thrashacre, Forsaken, Shadowborne, It Came From The Desert and Griffin Device.

The festival will also serve as a launch-pad for the latest release from Colourblind, namely the Broken Dreams EP, which will be officially launched on the first day of the festival. Further to the live music, Noel Mifsud, presenter of One Radio’s Rock Moods and All Rock’s Heatstrokes, will be spinning tunes in between bands on both nights. Doors open at 7.30pm with the first band starting at 8pm sharp. Ticket prices start at €10 (day ticket) or €15 (two days) for entrance before 9pm.

After 9pm prices will be higher. Early attendance is recommended to support all featured bands and to benefit from the Super Happy Dynamo Hour between 7.30pm and 8.30pm (both nights). For more information, look up the Generator Festival page on Facebook.
