The Mouse-trap, the longest running play in theatre history, celebrates the 60th anniversary since the first night of its opening today. To celebrate this diamond anniversary, licences have been given to 60 productions – including Malta – world-wide.
The MADC and the Manoel Theatre have been invited to take part in this celebration as the agents for the play felt that the MADC’s long history and the Manoel Theatre’s status as one of the oldest working theatres in Europe were worthy of recognition.
Here in Malta, the identity of the villain of this piece can be discovered during the play’s run on October 18-20 and 25-27. Every night for 60 years, an actor has stepped forward at the curtain call and requested the audience not to reveal the identity of the murderer – theatre-goers who can keep the secret are invited to join the exclusive club of those in the know.
