Malta Marauders, the veterans rugby team, have been invited to play in this year’s Dubai Rugby Sevens Invitation tournament, starting next Friday.

The three-day event is held annually and is one of the highlights of the international rugby calendar, with teams participating from across the globe.

Malta Marauders were formed in 2003 and have played in several European countries, including France, Spain and the Czech Republic.

However, this will be the first time that they have entered an international tournament.

Marauders will be primarily sponsored for the Dubai Sevens by Orion Malta.

Marauders team head Phil Gibbs thanked Orion Malta for their backing, as well as the support of Globalair.

In a statement, Gibbs added that the squad were all very excited about playing in such a large and well-known tournament, which attracts 40,000 spectators each day.

The Malta Marauders team leave the islands on Tuesday.
