Mgr Charles Scicluna was received as a member of the Cathedral Chapter this evening, in a ceremony held two days before his episcopal ordination and appointment as Auxiliary Bishop.

The ceremony was led by Archbishop Paul Cremona in the Cathedral in Mdina, the seat of the Church in Malta.

During the ceremony the instruments and vestments used by the bishop, including the mitre, cope, pectoral cross, episcopal ring and crozier were blessed.

Mgr Scicluna then joined the members of the Chapter for a prayer vigil.

The episcopal ordination takes place at St John's Co-Cathedral on Saturday at 9 a.m. and will be streamed live on timesofmalta.com
