Infrastructure, Transport and Communications Minister Austin Gatt has given details of the annual financial packages enjoyed by the top executives of entities in his ministry.

The chief executive of the Grand Harbour Regeneration plc gets €66,700 along with an annual allowance of €7,200 and a maximum performance bonus of 20 per cent.

The executive chairman of the Malta Communications Authority has a package of €94,000 and benefits of €5,020, compared with his predecessor’s Lm22,727 (€52,939) and Lm1,323 (€3,081), in addition to a car.

The chairman of the Malta Freeport Corporation has €16,305 and a mobile phone (his predecessor had just a mobile phone).

The previous chairman of MITA used to receive €28,898 including benefits. The current CEO receives €82,077 including benefits, compared to the €78,149 including benefits for his predecessor. The current CEO has a maximum performance bonus of 15 per cent (10 per cent more than his predecessor).

The CEO of Transport Malta gets €84,000, a car, health insurance, a 15 per cent performance bonus, a mobile phone and internet.

With the Transport Authority (ADT) and the Malta Maritime Authority (MMA) having been merged into Transport Malta, along with the Department of Civil Aviation, the comparison is somewhat more laborious.

The ADT chairman received €35,153.16. The chairman of MMA received €16,517.40, a car and cash fringe benefit. There is currently Transport Malta chairman.

The ADT CEO used to receive €51,652.08, a car and a cash fringe benefit. The MMA CEO used to receive €39,902.16, board honoraria of €291.17 a month, a monthly entertainment allowance of €388.24 and a company car.
