Two readers have complained, separately, about different aspects of the newly rebuilt Mgarr Road in Xewkija and the adjoining Fortunato Mizzi Street in Victoria, Gozo.

One reader complained that eight bus stops have been painted in the middle of the roads and, as a result, buses block traffic while boarding.

The reader noted that the roads had cost several million euro and there was plenty of space for bus stops without blocking traffic.  In Xewkija the bus stop was even painted instead of a 'give way' in a roundabout (picture).

Another reader, Konrad Scicluna, complained about rainwater flooding at Fortunato Mizzi Street.

"After almost a year of roadworks this is the end result of the newly resurfaced road.  This takes us back 10 years when the road had the same problems until they were solved when a proper water culvert was laid."

He said that when the road was rebuilt, the water culvert was replaced by smaller ones and flooding returned.

"We all have homes on this side of the road and it is impossible to go inside our homes without getting drenched. So much for all the millions wasted!," Mr Scicluna said.
