A man originally accused of conspiring to deal in drugs yesterday received a conditional discharge after the Attorney General dropped the most serious charges against him.

In 2004, Matthew-John Migneco, 38, was found in the car of another man, Joseph Rizzo, who allegedly had 3.5 kilograms of cannabis in his possession.

The conspiracy charge against Mr Migneco was dropped two years ago when it was deemed there was insufficient evidence to secure a conviction.

Yesterday a second charge of aggravated possession was also dropped because it would not legally viable.

Mr Migneco therefore received a two-year conditional discharge after being found guilty of the least serious form of possession.
