I am writing to congratulate the architect and all those who helped him restore the house at the bottom of Sir Adrian Dingli Street, in Sliema.
The house in question had been vacant for many years and everyone was wondering what will ever happen to it.
It now houses Lombard Bank offices and the restoration was indeed done very professionally. If only the multitude of houses we had for years in Sliema, Valletta and in other localities had been similarly restored!
The floor that was added above the original building has been done as a true copy of the floor below, to the minutest detail.
It is a relief to realise that there are architects who do not succumb to the pressure of knocking buildings down to construct blocks of flats instead.
I am sure everyone gets pleasure seeing the end result, appreciating buildings constructed satisfactorily in the era before the pigeon-holes of blocks of flats.
