The Maltese Embassy in France recently hosted a special literary evening during which EU award-winner Immanuel Mifsud was presented to a large audience and signed copies of his poetry collection.

The evening was held on the initiative of Malta’s Ambassador to France, Pierre Clive Agius, with the collaboration of the Representation of the European Commission in France.

It was chaired by Daniel Rondeau, French Ambassador to Unesco and former Ambassador to Malta. Mr Rondeau opened the evening with a short talk about the Maltese language and culture and an interview with Mifsud.

Mifsud spoke about his experience as a writer and the writers who have influenced his works. French actress Laureline Romuald recited a selection of poems by the Maltese author and poet and excerpts from his award-winning book In the Name of the Father (and of the Son), which has been translated into English by Nadja Mifsud.

Present for the occasion were a number of French people of Maltese descent, artists and writers. The evening ended with a reception and Mifsud signed copies of his Maltese-French poetry collection Bateau Noir, published last year.
