Remembrance Day, also known as Poppy Day or Armistice Day, was commemorated in Victoria last Sunday. War veterans gathered at Independence Square to honour their commrades who died during World War I and World War II.

The celebration started with the reading of commemorative poems and excerpts from the Holy Scripture by Fr Peter Francis Chappell, followed by a march past the Gozitan platoon of the Armed Forces of Malta and the sounding of the Last Post.

The Qala Primary School choir sang various hymns, including the National Anthem, while wreaths were laid at the foot of Christ the King Monument by Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono and representatives of various groups and organisations in the presence of war veterans and members of the British Legion.
