Marsovin, in collaboration with Xara Palace Relais & Chateaux, will be hosting the Grand Maître gastronomical experience at the De Mondion restaurant on November 30 and December 1.

The event will enable patrons to compare a number of cellar-aged Grand Maître vintages through a vertical tasting.

Vertical tasting is conducted by tasting one wine varietal from the same producer from several vintages and experiencing how the same wine develops and improves with age from one vintage to another.

The Grand Maître wines selected for this event are the 2006, 2007 and 2009 vintages.

The wines will be matched with a selection of dishes by chef Kevin Bonello and his team.

For this special occasion, Marsovin will release Grand Maître Jeroboams (three-litre bottles) from its 400-year-old cellars, where the wines have been laid to rest, age and mature in the perfect storage environment.

Grand Maître is a limited annual production, sought after for its quality, sustained ageing potential and collect-able value. The wine is prod-uced from a blend of Caber-net Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes grown in Marsovin’s private estate Għajn Riħana.

Patrons will first gather in the Xara Palace atrium at 7.30pm for a glass of Cassar de Malte Brut champagne and canapés and then proceed to the restaurant for dinner.

The price is €95 per person. For booking, call Xara Palace on 2145 0560 or e-mail info@xarapalace.com.mt or f&b@xarapalace.com.mt.
