Alarme, a military re-enactment portraying the historic and turbulent tenure of Malta by French troops, takes place at Vittoriosa this Sunday.

The re-enactment gives an account of the troops’ arrival in Malta, following Napoleon’s landing and conquest of the islands in 1798.

It covers the subsequent attempt to administer the islands by the new Republican government, the Maltese rebellion that led to the blockade of the French troops inside the harbour towns as well as the troops’ surrender to the British in 1800.

The re-enactment, which starts at 11am and lasts 45 minutes, will be held at St John’s Cavalier (close to Couvre Porte).
