BOV Premier League newcomers Melita received a timely off-field boost recently when it was announced that local ICT company 6PM had signed a sponsorship agreement with the club for the rest of the 2012/13 season.

Chief Executive Officer Ivan Bartolo said in a statement that the firm’s newly-launched applied knowledge base QuickFocus.com will be displayed on the Melita shirts as the concept of the website is very much in line with the philosophy of the club to educate and develop young players.

“In the same way QuickFocus.com aims to build a bridge between Academia and Industry by offering users an opportunity to access the industry experts and tap into their experience, so does Melita FC offer expertise to the hundreds of children who attend the nursery and who have been groomed into polished players through the guidance of the technical team,” Bartolo said.

Present for the signing were Melita FC president Paul Zammit, club secretary Matthew Naudi and other representatives of both parties.

On behalf of the club, Zammit thanked 6PM for their financial support.

“Without this kind of backing, the club cannot continue to improve the standard of our technical training and sports facilities,” Zammit said.

“We also would like to encourage club members and the public to show their support for our new sponsors and their products and services.”

Melita were promoted to the BOV Premier League last season as Division One champions.

The Reds, who have safeguarded their amateur principles throughout the years, have found the going tough in the top flight so far but last weekend, they managed a creditable 2-2 draw with Floriana.

Last week, Melita appointed former Spanish international Francisco ‘Patxi’ Salinas as their new coach following the resign-ation of Martin Gregory.
