Israel releases air strike video

Israel has released video showing the strike that killed Hamas Military Chief Ahmed Al-Jabbari. Deborah Gembara.

Ahmed Al-Jaabari was in this car when it was blown apart by an Israeli missile.

Israel confirmed it had carried out the attack on the Hamas military chief. Other air strikes were made overnight on Northern Gaza by the Israeli air force and the navy.

The strikes marked the biggest escalation between Israel and Gaza militants since 2009. Israel said it was retaliating after rockets were fired at Israeli towns from Gaza.

It came despite signs that Egypt had managed to broker a truce between Israel and Palestinian militants -- after a five day surge of violence which saw more than 100 missiles fired out of Gaza and repeated Israeli strikes on the enclave.

The Arab League is expected to hold an emergency meeting.
