Mdina’s Xara Palace Relais and Chateaux picked up the runner-up award for Best Dining Boutique Hotel in the World during a ceremony at the Hempel Hotel in London.

Hotel director Nicola Paris received the award from Miss World Denmark Maya Olesen.

The awards brought together boutique hoteliers, press, and industry insiders from all over the world to showcase the most prestigious boutique properties. Guest presenters included WAGT design consultancy vice-president Stephen Albert and acclaimed chef Chantelle Nicholson.

Nominations from 300 of the world’s finest small hotels were judged by Saatchi and Saatchi deputy chairman Richard Hytner, besides architects, former hotel managers, culinary experts and journalists.

Owned and run by the Zammit Tabona family, The Xara Palace Relais and Chateaux has been named among the top 10 castle hotels in the world by Fox News.
