A man who turned 61 today was remanded in custody because he could not afford to pay his bail bid of €2,000.

Emanuele Magro pleaded not guilty to stealing an iPhone and a wallet from a car in Sliema.

He also pleaded not guilty to handling stolen property and relapsing.

He was granted bail against a deposit of €2,000 but was placed in jail as he could not afford it.
