Driver forced to hold idiot sign

A woman caught on camera driving on a pavement to avoid a Cleveland school bus that was unloading children has been forced to stand in the cold at an intersection holding a sign warning people about idiots.

A Cleveland Municipal Court judge ordered 32-year-old Shena Hardin to serve the highly public sentence for one hour on two days this week.

She arrived bundled up against the cold, smoking a cigarette, wearing headphones and avoiding comment as passing vehicles honked their horns.

TV trucks were on hand to record the event.

The sign read: "Only an idiot would drive on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus."

Hardin's driving licence was suspended for 30 days.

It might be frustrating driving behind someone at 30 KPH but it is not illegal to drive at that speed in any lane. Anyway most streets in Malta have a speed limit of 40KPH or 50KPH and the roads are so short that anything above that speed is very dangerous.

@Mario - I agree with you!
@John Grima - Its true, its not illegal, but one must be a real idiot to cause such traffic jams. This is also a common cause of road rage and just because some people dont have anything to do, does not mean that others dont have to be 'there' on time!! And you are wrong, dual carriage ways in Malta are limited to 60 to 80kph none of which are dangerous in a well car

In Malta you have something different then other countries. You drive where the shade is or on the other side of the road to avoid pot holes.
