The condition of our roads is surely not the best for a two wheeler.Pot holes, polished streets, spilled diesel etc..

It's amazing! None of the comments show a hint of consideration for the injured fellow.I wish him a speedy and complete recovery.A bunch of know-it-alls commenting about everything except what might have caused the rider to lose control of the bike. Many factors can send a rider flying: diesel, oil, debris, gravel, road surface, etc, besides rider error.Nothing in the article tells what happened.

Or perhaps we need more disciplined car drivers to start respecting more the motorcyclists avoiding competition on the road and give bikers way to enjoy their ride. Nobody mentioned the disastrous asphalt we have on our roads making it even more difficult for the biker to stop his bike when a car driver decides to cause danger to the motorcyclist.

Combination of bad driving/riding and bad roads
When will these people see sense. Being a biker, Malta is not the place for fast riding

The only police one sees/meets these days are the sleeping ones across the streets.
Where are the police patrols, on foot, during the day and night?
There are squad cars seen zooming about, but they disregard all infringements re traffic or public order.
If they book all infringements they will pay for themselves, plus.

And a lot of people do not see the sleeping police, so they jumb and bump. I cannot really see the difference the police would make, with the pitty fines that are on offer you do not really scare anyone to much. So first put up the tariff, then enforce it.

How come so many motorists losing control of their vehicles?
A small island being plagued with fatal road trafic accidents on a weekly basis
Truly worrying

On the weekends you have a lot of weekend drivers with little or no experience showing off, during the week you have a lot of frustrated motorist that had been stuck in traffic.

The police here don't want to get into ascribing blame (& I believe are advised by the asso not to) so everything is 'loss of control' until proven otherwise by an investigating magistrate or the courts. Needless to say if somewhere is dangerous, the hazard might not be identified by the courts for years!

We need more traffic police on the roads if the government can afford the bikes and keep them in good working order, this I am sure will lower the number of traffic accidents on our roads.

what we need is discipline, specially on motor drivers, pretending that they are the kings of the roads.
