Access to public areas
The SPCA is extremely concerned to see that signs not allowing the walking of dogs are being put up at many public gardens in Valletta and other parts of the island. We feel strongly that responsible dog owners should be allowed access to all public parks as long as their dogs are secured on a leash and that they clear up any mess left by their pets. Naturally, owners who disregard these rules should be fined in accordance with the law and we do not condone irresponsible behaviour in any way.
Can we please ask the necessary authorities to review this situation and give back the public areas to those who wish to enjoy them with their dogs in a responsible manner?

why is it that dog people always find something to complian about? first its because they want their pet to be able to cruise or fly in comfort not many Maltese people can afford that let alone them taking a pet along!! and just because certain public gardens are banned they go all poo poo because there not allowed in!! well grow up if some dog owners dont like to scoop up its pets poo so be it!!

Who will decide on who is a responsible dog owner and who is not.
My experience is that EVERY dog owner claims to be a responsible dog owner.

Rather similar to my experience in that every person claims to be responsible citizen with or without owning any animals sir?

Why limit the SPCA's concern in this regard to public parks/gardens?As there are many other public places where this dog -free restriction is applied.

Bad news.
This is unfortunatley the typical reaction in Malta - if you cannot discipline or control an activity, then BAN IT.
