Handwashing Day is obser-ved worldwide each year on October 15.

To mark the occasion, the Medical Students’ Association organised an art competition entitled Handwashing to motivate children to wash their hands using soap to prevent disease prevention.

The artworks entered for the competition were uploaded on Facebook and people had to vote for the best entries in various categories.

Danica Sultana, who attends St Francis School in Victoria, was declared the winner in the Year 5 and 6 category.

Last Monday, Sarah Micallef from the Medical Students’ Association, visited the school, where a prize-giving ceremony and a short activity highlighting the importance of handwashing took place.
