Air Malta passengers had their flight to Malta from London delayed by 11 hours yesterday due to a technical fault.

The plane was due in Malta at 3.35pm but did not leave Heathrow airport.

Engineers tried to repair the fault but took longer than expected and the airline dispatched a relief aircraft to pick up the passengers.

This was expected to arrive at 2.30am. A spokesman apologised for the delay.
