Police yesterday recovered some €6,000 in cash and cheques stolen during an early morning hold-up in St Paul’s Bay.

A hooded man reportedly used pepper spray to steal the money from a 68-year-old man walking up Triq il-Kaħli around 5.30am.

Police said they found the cash in a bag some time later and the victim was being treated in hospital.

Some two hours later, a man wielding a knife broke into a house in Santa Venera demanding money from a woman.

Police said this robber was not hooded and left the house in Triq Abela with €250 in cash at around 7.45am.

An inquiry is being held.
