Lifecyclists given heroes' welcome
Video: Mark Zammit Cordina
Family and friends gathered at the airport this afternoon to welcome home the Lifecycle team after they completed a 1,900-kilometre bike ride from Brisbane to Melbourne.
12 out of the 33 cyclists had to pull out of the challenge because of injuries.
They managed to raise €130,000 for the Mater Dei Hospital Renal Unit.
The Lifecycle has become an annual event since it was first held in 1999.

Well done over and over. This continued voluntary effort needs to be recognized by the state. Well done once again. We are so proud of you all.

Well done to all that participated in the Life cycle team a very good and noble gesture but why go all that way to raise just €130.000 still every € helps keep it up proset.

Well done to all the cyclists but most of all WELL DONE to Mr ALAN CURRY. He was the brains behind the creation of Life Cycle and this is one thing that everyone seems to forget. He did it for the love of his wife who had kidney problems and in creating Life Cycle he has also managed to help other maltese persons who unfortunately have Kidney problems.

Well done to all the members of Lifecycle challenge 2012. You deserved the Heroes' welcome you got at the airport but we would have liked to see a small representation from the government to thank these very brave and unselfish individuals. They have helped the Renal Unit in a big way and promoted cycling as a sport. PROSIT EVERYBODY!!!

Well done and congratulations to all involved, cyclists and back up team members. These guys put their bodies on the line for patients at the Mater Dei renal unit and should be applauded and praised wherever they go, I reckon. This year's event seemed to be particularly hardcore if the number of drop outs is any measure. WELL DONE ALL!!
