Labour will have a clear strategy for creation of more productive work - Muscat
More productive work can be created with a clear strategy to help families, expand the economy and ensure that everyone benefited from this growth, Labour leader Joseph Muscat said today.
Speaking during a meeting with officials from the Malta Employers Association, Dr Muscat said that a new Labour government would further develop the concept of Public Private Partnerships which had not been exploited enough.
He said that the country’s competitiveness was being undermined by the cost of energy and insisted there were ways of providing electricity at cheaper rates for families and employers.

'Clear strategy', perhaps like 'Dirghajn il-Maltin', 'Dejma', 'Izra u rabbi', industria tal-kappar, tal-bebbux, or the 8,000 employed just before the election? Hmmmm, I wonder? Obviously, companies like Lufthansa, SR Electronics and others are unknown to PL!

No wonder the business representatives on the right of the photo look worried.
They go for a meeting and are fed nothing but empty words. Promises, promises, promises.
If there's a strategy come out with it and let everyone discuss it. Unless, of course, it's nothing but hot air.

Muscat is clearly admitting that the LP does not have a clear strategy for creation of more productive work at this late stage with a looming general election. This is another pie-in-the-sky hope that it may conjure up something at some time in the future.

@A M Bonello - The Maltese - at least those who are not Politically Blinkered like you seem to be - have seen loads of PIPE DREAMS coming to us from the present inefficient administration: ARRIVA, Smart City, Brazilian ''ghost'' company.....And we've seen BLUNDERS and ARROGANCE comining our way too. Need we enumerate those?

Who is arrogant, Mr Grech? PL, STILL in opposition, are ALREADY arrogant! They promised to replace those deemed 'unfit' (?) for the job; that those who don't accept their plans are to be removed,......need I go on? You forgot to mention some successes, like: Lufthansa; SR Electronics; records in turism; dozens of new schools; EU praise of Malta's finances, lowest unemployment in EU.....etc.

To Mr Cetchuti. This business about 20,000 new jobs and the Brazil firm is driving you nuts. You can check for yourself. How many started working, how many left ie retired, how many jobs had to be replaced because of redundancies it is very simple add and subtruct.

Vera jhobbu lil-poplu Malti dan Joseph, ghandu s-soluzzjoni tal-eletriku bi rhis u halliena nbaghtu ghal dan iz-zmien kollu semplicement biex jinki lil Lawrence Gonzi.
This promise of cheap electricity for all is similar to Alfred Sant's promise in 1996 to remove the VAT and in 2008 to give us a tax free year. Fortunately only the naive believed him and the MLP lost the election.

The way JM speaks and highlights his speeches... seems to be like he his writing a thesis on one of the subjects studied back at uni. Of course one can develop loads of strategies and policies... but will they work?

Last Tuesday's US election ought to teach Labour a lesson. Romney pro ised heaven on earth but failed to explain his policies and used his campaign to denigrate Obama. Obama used his campaign to highlight what he did and te way forward and as they say the rest is history and one simply hopes that it repeats itself in Malta in the enxt couplemof months.

Labour is 'safe for business' - trust me! How shameful that the MLP have no policies and vision for the industrial sector. Employers are not silly - they will not be fooled but the shallowness of Joseph Muscat!

Empty words as usual - we want to hear HOW will PL manage it? In the meantime, everyone is paying the 'high' energy bills while we wait for PL's coming - social conscience, progressive, moderate movement my foot!
Only fools follow their 'annointed leader' (sic) and vote blindly - though one must admit it seems most of the Maltese are fools in this respect.

Yes you are right. And so should the present Government. They should come clean, both of them, with real detailed statistics, projections and solutions. Not round figures, like the 20000!
Unless there is a good change in the electoral process we have to swallow whatever they throw at us!

The only clear thing from the labour camp is that they have no vision and no real solutions. Gonzi, in spite of all internal and external trouble, has brought about jobs and security. Labour will bring job losses, jobs for the boys and uncertainty.

The present administration is disjointed, confused, ineffective and many people now recognize it as such. Not only that our supposed leaders lie and make stupid mistakes even on crucially important issues.
Our parliament is not really functioning and has been like that for many months. Time for Change!
